LAVROC OJAI RIDE

Ventura County, California

This ride was a last minute ride and we still got a good turn out. Rider were: Sergio, Alfred, Robert, Erik, Tom, Todd & Sue, Alex, Xavier, Eric "Dusty", Daryl, Frank and me (George). I met Erick "Dusty" and Robert met me at my house and we headed to Patrick's Diner in Glendale. Todd, Sue, Alex, Tom, Sergio, and Alfred were already there. We left there at 9:30AM and headed up to Balboa and the 118 to meet with Xavier, Eric and Frank. We went straight through Simi Valley into Moorpark and on to Daryl's House... or near it. He did not want 11 motorcycle waking up his wife so he met us on the street corner... like the hooker that he is. After that it was a short, but incredible ride up and down Balcom Canyon, wow. We stopped in Santa Paula for gas then headed right to The Deer Lodge in Ojai. Frank ate and we sat around chewing the fat. After that we broke up into 2 groups. Half went back the other half continued on the 33 going to Pine Mountain. Todd, Xavier, Erick, Frank, Daryl and I continued up the mountain. At one point I looked in my mirror to see if the group was still in tact when I noticed a huge Dust Cloud from behind me. Eric, now named Dusty, drifted into a sandy shoulder and laid the bike down. Fortunately there was not major damage and he did not get hurt. He just got really dusty... thus the new nickname. We commiserated for a few minutes and then turned around and headed to the 101 to get home quickly. Well, we stopped at a brew pub called JJ Brewksi for some eats and some great beer. Xavier and I went back to Daryl's house to pet his horse and to get some free avocados. It was a beautiful day for a ride. Go ahead and give Eric a hard time for falling... he seems to have handled it pretty good, considering he had to ride all the way home to San Diego.
