LAVROC LAKE ISABELLA RIDE

March 2, 2008

Sequoia National Park, California

Riders: Jesus, Jim, Tod, Erick, Paul, Ray, Frank, Art, me and a new guy Robert. I met Jesus, Jim and Robert at El Tepeyac Restaurant in East LA for breakfast at 7:15am. We ate and rode up to Dennys in Sylmar to meet Tod, Ray, Eric, Paul and Frank. We left there on time and met with Art at the Frazier Park Exit off of the 5 up on the Grapevine. The ride from Sylmar to the Grapevine was about the worst part of the day since it was cold and the wind was starting to be a pain. However as soon as we came down from there the skies were clear and the wind was gone. We took the 99 to the city of Arvin where we stopped and fueled up. After that it was a beautiful ride along Bear Mountain Road to the 58 and then to Bealville Rd into Caliente. We continued on Caliente Bodfish Road into Bodfish and eventually the South side of Lake Isabella. We decided to take the 178 East and go around the lake the long way. We got to Sierra Way and headed into Kernville. We stopped at the Kern River Brewing Comnpany for food and some really tastey micro brews. After that we climed up to more than 5,000 feet into the snow and got the 178 into Bakersfield. We gassed up one more time and said our farewells as we were just going to split up on the ride home.

It was said that this was probably one of the LAVROCers best ride yet.
