Tecate Brewery Tour

Just 40 miles East of San Diego you can cross into Mexico's Tecate City in Baja California.

Alfred and I (George Olivos) took this leisurly drive on a whim. We drove into Tijuana and navigated it's streets until we found the Tecate Toll Road ($7.00) to get to Tecate from T.J. It took about 45 minutes. We got to Tecate and enjoyed an immediate free beer. Then at noon the tour began. A yound lady name Mellisa was our guide. First we sat through a short video about the company and it's affiliates. The parent company is called Cerveceria Cuatemoc Montezuma. After the video we did a walk through of a fully functional brewery and cannery. They say they make 1400 cans of Tecate per minute. There was plenty of other information shared during the tour. It was definitely very interesting. Afterwards we had lunch downtown. We crossed out of Mexico through Tecate and were in the USA in minutes. The drive back to San Diego had us on Route 94. We stopped at Barret's a place in the middle of no-where. Definitely worth taking another road trip. I think I will take the bikes on this ride soon.
